Little's own debut album, 1958's Booker Little 4 and Max Roach, featured just two horns—his trumpet and George Coleman's tenor—but achieved a similar effect. The next couple years were a Reception. The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album 4½ stars and stated "Trumpeter Booker Little's second session as a leader (there would only be four) is a quartet outing that puts the emphasis on relaxed tempoes.
